Alexander Watt, 68, belonged to the controversial Children of God organisation when he carried out sexual offences against two youngsters in Renfrewshire and on the east coast in the 80s.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard that father-of-10 Watt attacked a girl aged between four and eight and a boy aged between seven and nine.
Watt, of Dumbarton, pled guilty to four charges of assault and lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour against the children.

False Start Foundation: Same shit, different day
Last April we began tracking a new organisation which was claiming to represent the interests of survivors of child sexual abuse. The “Fresh Start Foundation”—yet another “foundation” with a name which could easily be confused with a number of others, rather like the “Knight Foundation”—had a very interesting list of founding officers, many of whom were already known to us: Christine Margaret Gow, Neil James McKechnie, Andrew Christopher Peacher, Penny Pullen, David Scott (UK Column’s “Albion Rover”), and Alexander Smith. Mr McKechnie is a friend of Belinda McKenzie, and Christine Gow has done her fair share of posting illegal posts about RD’s children.We note that Andy Peacher and Alexander Smith were dropped from the board of directors last month, and replaced by three new directors (Janine Danielle Rennie seems to have been listed twice in error).
And what would any dodgy non-charity “foundation” be without the blessing of Belinda McKenzie?
At the Fresh Start Foundation’s inaugural conference last year, invited speakers included Robert Green and Wilfred Wong, with video contributions from Brian Gerrish, David Icke, and Kevin Annett. Hail, hail, the gang’s all here!
The Fresh Start Foundation had its own crowdfunding page (of course!), though that seems to have gone tits up after only three donations (including one from Penny Pullen).
Recent misbehaviour
To be honest, having noted the existence of the thing, we hadn’t really paid it a great deal of attention until last month, when we noticed that one of the directors, David Scott, had directed a particularly ugly UK Column video at a grassroots child sexual abuse survivors’ organisation, ShatterBoysUK.After noting that Daniel Wolstencroft of ShatterBoysUK sits on the Victims and Survivors Consultative Panel (VSCP) in the IICSA inquiry, Mr Scott focussed on the fact that Mr Wolstencroft’s name had somehow been misspelled in the organisation’s Companies House page. Quel horreur!
Brian Gerrish: How can Daniel have a different name on Companies House and different name when he is representing CSA survivors at the Independent Inquiry?
David Scott: Well this is the question, we have asked this question, we haven’t had an answer. We’ve had answers but no justification. It was claimed to be a spelling mistake, and then it was claimed to be a spelling mistake by a lawyer, then it was claimed to be a spelling mistake by the lawyer’s typist, but there’s nothing been provided to substantiate this.
Mr Scott extrapolates from the fact that someone somewhere along the line misspelled Mr Wolstencroft’s name to…well, it’s not completely clear. He makes some rather vague allegations about ShatterBoysUK being dodgy in some unspecified way, and states that there was once a fraud case involving someone with the same name, and hey, who knows, it might have been the same Daniel Wolstencroft, but who knows? (It’s not.) The issue is left hanging, the smear complete.
These claims have now spilled over onto social media, and from what I have been observing myself, and from what a number of sources are also telling me, it now appears that a closely-linked group on social media have now picked up on this, and ganged up on Mr Wolstencroft, surrounding him like starving jackals, demanding that he explains to them personally how the spelling error occurred on the Companies House Website, and if he is in fact the person that UK Column have referred to as having been involved in a fraudulent insurance claim.
Mr Wolstencroft has I believe, ‘blocked’ those accounts now, and UK Column as I understand it are now backtracking on the claims they made in their video.
A group of Twitter users, fronted by and his wife Lesley Scott, who goes by the name “” (aka WildCat or CalamiTcat) online, have led the charge, in a blatant attack on Mr Wolstencroft, ShatterBoysUK, and anyone who tries to support them.
When regular HR commentator Sheva Burton attempted to stand up for Mr Wolstencroft, she too was targetted:
The question is, why would the “Fresh Start Foundation”, which bills itself as a voluntary organisation devoted to “CSA support, recovery, seeking truth & justice”, see fit to attack genuine advocates for survivors of child sexual abuse. In other words, they have aspirations to unseat the current Independent Inquiry and replace it with their own, and anyone who gets in their way will be targetted. Mr Wolstencroft had the utter temerity to get himself appointed to the VSCP…how very dare he!
In the broader sense, this kind of attack represents the aims of a small, fanatical group of believers in the myth of “Satanic ritual abuse”, whose goal is to undermine and destroy other narratives and replace them with their own. It’s ugly and brutal, and yet it also may serve to shine a light on the behaviour of the Hoaxtead mobsters and their friends.

If they’d bothered to check records they’d know that there were seven Daniel Wolstencrofts born in the 1970’s in England. If you look at the 60’s and the 80’s there are no doubt quite a few more. Perhaps they need to determine which one was involved in the insurance incident before they start smearing people.
So can I ask, is UK Column going to start questioning Belinda McKenzie about the accounts for her organisations and perhaps if they want to go a few years back they could ask Maggie Tuttle about her ‘Children Screaming To Be Heard’ which didn’t bother to file any accounts at all with the Charity Commission? Come on Brian, let’s be fair. You can’t point the finger at one person and not examine the others as well just because they’re your friends. Can you?
I fear that actual research isn’t really their forte. It might get in the way of their smearing and finger-pointing.
All these foundations, all with the same loose group of rotating directors, they all seem to operate for a while then disappear, then come back with mostly the same people, maybe one fresh face or two. What I’d like to know is if they are making money, where is it going to? (I am thinking of APD and her african charity type situation is possible perhaps?) and now they are looking to legitimize themselves and in the process get access to a lot more money. Mix that in with a few disturbed individuals and who knows what you would be getting (I am thinking a few in it for the access to government grant moneys, donations both individual and corporate etc, with a few individuals with issues, any attempt to investigate or clarify things will be instantly decried by using those individuals as shields ie “How dare you suggest X would do such a thing, havent they suffered enough, what kind of monster are you to subject them to any further abuse” I am not positive this is happening, but having seen the behaviour of some of the people involved, I am concerned about some of these people having any involvement at all
If I had to guess, I’d say that in this instance the goal is to undermine the perceived legitimacy of the IICSA and draw attention to their own loony version, which they’re calling a “People’s Inquiry”. By which, of course, they mean a “Conspiranoid SRA-Believer’s Inquiry”, but that takes too long to write out.

Many of the participants are supporting child abusers, they are involved in child abuse. Posting the names, images, medical reports, videos of child abuse victims without their consent all over the internet is child abuse.

I very much welcome the report of Operation Conifer and Wiltshire Police’s investigation into allegations of Child Sexual Abuse and of Satanist Ritual Abuse (SRA) made against the former British Prime Minister, Sir Edward Heath.
I highly commend the Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police, Michael Veale, for his outstanding courage in ensuring that an investigation was conducted into the allegations against Edward Heath despite the huge pressure placed on him to drop that investigation, instigated by certain Parliamentarians and certain journalists in the UK media.
Such attacks against Operation Conifer and Chief Constable Veale can be interpreted as an indication of the huge vested interests involved in protecting so-called VIP child abusers from being brought to justice. In practice the UK authorities have been placing the protection of such VIP abusers far above the welfare of vulnerable children in our society.
Whatever happened to the Rule of Law, where all are supposed to be equal before the Law, regardless of their status in society?
Why are VIPs in effect given a license by the UK authorities to abuse children?
And why isn’t much more being done by the UK authorities to tackle the problem of Satanist Ritual Abuse?
In view of the disturbing revelations made about Sir Edward Heath by the Operation Conifer investigation and taking into account the coverup that enabled Heath to conceal his crimes against children for so many years, I call on you to ensure that there is a very full, thorough, transparent, public and independent Police investigation into the allegations of Child Sexual Abuse and Satanist Ritual Abuse that have been made against so-called VIPs in the UK and that those responsible for such crimes are swiftly brought to justice regardless of their high position and status.
I also urge that the UK Government very publicly recognise and support the findings of Operation Conifer and the courageous efforts of Chief Constable Michael Veale and his team, and at the very least confer upon Chief Constable Veale a Knighthood for his devotion to doing his duty without fear or favour.
Publicly recognising Chief Constable Veale’s admirable work will also serve to encourage other Police officers to act without fear or favour to protect our nation’s children.

Savile’s horrific reign of abuse dated back to 1959 when he raped a 13-year-old girl, before attacks followed ‘in the corridors, canteens, staircases and dressing rooms of every BBC premises’.
Other vile crimes exposed included the rape of both a virgin teenager in a hotel and a 15-year-old work experience girl he met in the BBC canteen over a cup of tea.
Witchcraft and demonic possession are linked to almost 1,500 child abuse cases a year, the first Government statistics on the topic show.
Experts warned that an increasing number of children were being abused by adults who want to “get the devil out of them”.
Figures released by the Department for Education show that 1,460 cases in England included concerns about abuse which was “linked to faith and belief” during the year to March 2017.
Of the cases 310 took place in the North West, 240 took place in London and 220 were in the West Midlands.
The largest single figure for any local authority was 86 cases, which was recorded for Lancashire.
Charities said the figure was likely to be an underestimate because local authorities did not have enough awareness to spot the likely signs of abuse.
Justin Humphreys, executive director of safeguarding at the Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Service, told the Church Times that there was “limited understanding” of the warning signs.
He said: “The data presented by the Government reflects the reports to the Education Select Committee 2012 that an increasing number of children in the UK are being harmed in the belief that ‘it will get the devil out of them’.
“We should be taking this as a call to re-energise the national effort to educate communities and professionals and safeguard all our children.”
Until now all data showing the scale of the issue had been released by police forces or under the Freedom of Information Act.
The new figures suggest that the issue is more widespread than previously thought.
Research carried out by the charity alongside Manchester Metropolitan University earlier this year found that only one in three professionals working with children and families were confident they could spot the signs of child abuse.
In 2012 the Government launched a national action plan to tackle the issuefollowing the murder of Kristy Bamu, a 15-year-old boy who was accused of witchcraft.
The boy drowned in a bath during an exorcism and Bikubi said he believed the child was a witch. Both were jailed for life.
The guidance states that such abuse includes the belief that children are witches or possessed by a spirit, demon or the devil, as well as “ritual or muti murders where the killing of children is believed to bring supernatural benefits or the use of their body parts is believed to produce potent magical remedies”.
In other cases, the guidance said, magic or witchcraft is used “to create fear in children to make them more compliant when they are being trafficked for domestic slavery or sexual exploitation”.
Examples include the superstition that calling a wrong number can bring malevolent spirits into the home.
Children can also be scapegoated for misfortune which has befallen other members of the family, such as unemployment or poverty.
The guidance came about following concerns raised about belief in witchcraft among “migrant African communities in England”, the document said.
The action plan included the establishment of a working group meant to tackle the issue but Mr Humphreys said it was not receiving enough attention.
The Government had “pretty much withdrawn any tangible support” for implementing the plan, he said.
A Government spokesman said: “Children must be kept safe, and no belief system can justify the abuse of a child.
“The Department for Education is investing up to £1.5 million to tackle child abuse and support charities such as Barnardo’s in their work to tackle abuse linked to faith or belief.
“Those responsible for child abuse linked to faith or belief would be subject to prosecution. Our statutory guidance is crystal clear that anyone who has concerns about a child’s welfare should report this to children’s social care or the police.”

Cunningham – who has 35 prior convictions including sex offences, child cruelty and attempted murder – was accused of breaching strict conditions banning him from contact with young people.
However, the charge against him was found not proven by a jury at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
One witness, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told the court the young girl was a “wee chatterbox” who would speak to anyone.

“It went on until the social work said they would look into it.”
Social worker Jamie Turnbull said a family living below the flat Cunningham shared with another man in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, “raised a number of concerns”.
Mr Turnbull, who discussed with his manager how the child could be kept safe, added: “There were loud sexual noises at night and in the early morning.”
Mr Turnbull said there were concerns about social behaviour involving Cunningham and the man in whose flat he was staying.
“Apparently they were practising Devil worship in the garden and the family had concerns about that,” he said.

A specially commissioned government report will this week conclude that satanic abuse does take place in Britain. It will say that its victims have suffered actual abuse and are not suffering from “false memory syndrome”.
The report, ordered by the Department of Health, focuses on the experiences of 50 “survivors”. Compiled by Dr John Hale, director of the Portman Clinic in London, and psychotherapist Valerie Sinason, it will reopen the debate which started a decade ago with testimonies from children in Nottingham, Rochdale and Orkney.
Its findings contradict the claims of a report ordered by the Conservative government in 1994, which concluded that satanic abuse was a “myth”.
It follows the growing concern of child protection agencies, and the Government, over organised child abuse.
Last week, it emerged that police were investigating the alleged sexual and physical abuse of up to 4,000 children in care homes and council-run homes in Devon.
Ms Sinason, who has treated 126 ritual abuse survivors, said yesterday that in many cases children were tortured by being held under water or made to believe they had witnessed the murder of infants as part of the satanic ritual.
“Some children are born for the purpose of abuse and are not registered on birth certificates,” she added. “The abusers use trickery to convince children they have taken part in murder. This increases the power of the abuser.”
The report will point to the difficulty of bringing prosecutions because of the problems of putting abused children into the witness box. There are currently at least five cases involving ritual abuse in the hands of lawyers.
Lee Moore, a barrister who founded the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, and was himself a victim of ritual abuse, said it was hard to persuade people to give evidence, particularly after the 1994 report claiming satanic abuse was a myth perpetuated by social workers.
The latest report was welcomed by Dr Joan Coleman, a Surrey psychiatrist who has spent 14 years treating victims. “A lot of children are born into satanic families who indulge in this ritual abuse,” she said. “It’s only now that child sexual abuse is being exposed that people are beginning to believe ritual abuse exists.”

(FSF) is an Independent Peoples Enquiry into all forms of Child Sexual Abuse in Scotland. Having witnessed the failures of existing authorities to protect the children of this nation, and having seen the loss of confidence in the official inquiry, we have concluded that ordinary Scots must stand up to this challenge. The resignations from the official inquiry, and the governmental interference cited as reasons for those resignations, were the last straw. We, the people, will investigate what has happened and what is happening. Our governments, and those institutions charged with delivering justice, have failed. We will no longer endure that failure. We have decided to act.
This investigation will not be limited only to abuse within an institutional context but will look at every form of abuse that has occurred and is occurring. Thus we are determined to address abuse within institutions, Satanist Ritual Abuse, trafficking and abuse for commercial gain in the sex industry, abuse by informal networks, multi-generational abusive families and any other form of sexual abuse reported by victims and survivors. In acting we seek the truth. We investigate to discover the truth. The truth, it has been well said, will set you free.
How We Operate
We are an all-volunteer group. We give our time freely because it is right that we do so. Where funds are required, these are raised from public donation and private voluntary contributions. We accept no money from government agencies in order that our complete independence from any party tainted with child abuse, its cover up, or its toleration may be unquestioned.
Our organisation is dedicated to bringing truth and justice to the victims of Child Sexual Abuse and Satanist Ritual Abuse in Scotland, with the firm belief that this will do more than any other single action to heal our nation and protect future generations of children from suffering similar horrors. And we wish to be explicit about our understanding of what victims and survivors seek. In our experience, they want:
The truth to come out – this releases them from a world in which they have suffered but where they, and maybe a few family and friends, are the only ones who know. Hence they suffer in secret.
They want justice to have the wrongs against them made right.
At present the state overwhelmingly tries to avoid exposure and justice and buy them off with compensation – they want truth and justice before the money they deserve.

Each step has a fixed time-line and defined outcomes and items to be delivered. This programme is to deliver for the victims and survivors, it is not to make them promises only to disappoint once again. So many of our countrymen and countrywomen have a lifetime of betrayal by those who should protect and help them. We are determined that we shall not add to that.
Making Contact
A series of 36 road show events will be conducted across Scotland. These will be located: One in each of the 32 local authority areas One extra in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen. The roadshows will be split into two batches of 18; one in 2018 and the second in 2019. They will run at fortnightly intervals from April to October each year. The Road Shows will comprise the following:
Leafleting the public
Meeting with victims and survivors from the area
Meeting with groups and organisations dealing with victims and survivors in the area
A formal presentation to the public involving:
An expert guest speaker. Topics will include Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), Satanist Ritual Abuse (SRA) and Child Trafficking.
A report on the history of CSA and SRA in that area, as known from published sources
A presentation from the FSF detailing the help we require.
Music from volunteer artists who support our cause. The presence of music may seem surprising to some; let us explain the reason this is an integral part of our events. Any work or initiative to investigate child abuse is often a very difficult emotionally draining and dark subject. The proposal is to introduce music especially where survivors are directly involved to help lift emotions and bring in some happiness, light and companionship to those seeking justice and those working to help. There are few things that can lift the heart and bring people together more effectively than music.
The aims of the roadshows are to
Make contact with victims and survivors.
Develop a map of abuse in Scotland.
Establish links with all organisations and groups who will support our work.
Raise funds for the FSF programme.
Make contact with people who have the skills we need to advance the investigation.
Gathering Testimony
We will commence gathering testimony from victims and survivors in June 2018 and continue until June 2020. The information will be recorded on video and will be transcribed into a written record. This will be reviewed and developed so that it can be presented in the form of a signed affidavit.
All information will be securely stored and its use and release will be controlled by the victims and survivors decision as to the status of their evidence. Three categories of evidence are defined as follows:
Testimony may be given on the basis of complete confidentiality, with no names released and data used only in anonymised form to inform the nation as to the scope of the abuse.
Additionally the information may be placed before grand-juries, courts and other tribunals, used in investigations and forming part of the broader drive for justice, but without any general or public release.
Finally, when so determined by the victim/survivor, the information may be made available publicly to communicate the reality of the abuse to the people of Scotland.
Informing the Nation
Based on the affidavits, we will develop an anonymised report for publication. This will be published in March 2021. The report will communicate to the people of Scotland what we have discovered about Child Sexual Abuse and Satanist Ritual Abuse in Scotland. It will reveal the scope, extent and type we have discovered, and name institutions where abuse occurred. It may name individual abusers where evidence is great and the victims are deceased. It will not detail areas where prosecution is possible
Conducting Investigation
Where affidavits provide corroborating evidence, such as when two unconnected people independently name an abuser, or where other corroborating evidence seems likely to be obtained, we shall conduct formal investigations to assemble evidence for potential prosecution. The evidence gathering will be by trained and paid professionals in the private sector. It will not use state resources. The timing of investigation work will depend to some extent on the nature of the testimony gathered, however we expect to start this work in June 2019. Investigation work will be complete by June 2021
Testing Evidence
When the affidavits of victims and survivors and the corroborating evidence is deemed robust, it shall be tested by presenting it before a Grand Jury made up of ordinary Scots. Accused persons will be invited to respond to the evidence and offer a defence.
Grand Juries are long established common law courts where the jury decides whether to bring criminal charges (an indictment) against a potential defendant. The common Law is the traditional law of Scotland, England and the former British Empire and colonies. It embodies the ancient laws of our people and developed slowly over the centuries. It is the basis of our system of law and predates statute and parliamentary acts. Grand Juries will be conducted up until October 2021
Pursuing prosecution
Where the Grand Jury considers that there is a case to answer, the matter will be passed to Police Scotland and the COPFS who shall be given an opportunity to prosecute the case. As the grand jury has already concluded it should proceed, they will not be given scope to not proceed. Should they fail to bring any cases to trial, then the Fresh Start Foundation would seek to initiate a private criminal prosecution. The decision on prosecution will be made by the Grand Jury, no other party may overrule this.
Creating a Memorial
By public subscription, we intend to create a memorial to those who have suffered. In part this will be an on-line archive of testimonies and accounts; in part it will be the public report; in part the evidence considered by Grand Juries; in part the records of the prosecutions and convictions. We aim to find a permanent home for this archive, so that it will not be forgotten, or repeated.

LIST OF SUCCESSFULLY PROSECUTED SRA CASES IN BRITAIN
(Note: this is not an exhaustive list)
1. On 9th November 1982, Malcolm and Susan Smith and Albert and Carole Hickman, were convicted in Telford, Shropshire for a series of sexual and physical assaults against children during the course of satanic rituals.Malcolm Smith carved an inverted cross on one child’s abdomen and branded her genitals with a red-hot altar knife.
2. On 23rd July 1987 Brian Williams was convicted at London’s Central Criminal Court for the sexual abuse of 15 girls and boys. He assaulted his victims on an altar dedicated to Satanand forced them to abuse each other.The rituals were performed with a Satanist pentagram drawn on the floor in blood.
3. On 8 August 1990 Reginald Harris was convicted at Worcester Crown Court after admitting to two specimen charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15 year old girl and her younger sister. Harris told his victims he was a satanist high priest. The children were terrified into submission by Harris’s satanist rituals. He had drawn up a satanist “coven contract of marriage” to the older girl.
4. On 3rd July 1992 a 57 year old satanist was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing his niece. He had raped his victim two or three times per week between the ages of 10 and 12. The Court also heard details of a “black magic room” where the abuser kept an altar and ritual equipment. When the child was 12 she became pregnant and was required by her uncle to give birth in that room. The victim was terrified by her uncle’s satanist rituals. He threatened to rape her younger sister and kill her pets if she ever spoke of the abuse. On one occasion he snapped the neck of one of her pets in front of her and drowned another.
Judge Dennis Clark told the man: “Your fascination with the occult or devil-worship played a part in impelling you towards this evil behaviour.”
5. On March 11, 2011, Colin Batley, the leader of a Satanist coven, was convicted at Swansea Crown Court of more than 20 sexual offences against children including 11 rapes.
He and other satanists had ritually abused children in Kidwelly, Wales, where their coven was based. The children, some as young as 11, were subjected to “organised and systematic” abuse by Batley, his wife and two women coven members.
Jacqueline Marling, 42, was jailed for 12 years for aiding and abetting rape, causing prostitution, indecency with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Batley’s wife Elaine, 47, was jailed for eight years on three charges of indecency with a child and sexual activity with a child. Shelly Millar, 35, was jailed for five years for indecency with a child and inciting a child to engage in sex. A fifth defendant, Vincent Barden, 70, admitted assaulting an under-age girl.
6. Two members of a Witches’ coven in St. Ives, Cornwall, were convicted at Truro Crown Court in December 2012 for their “ritualistic, sickening” sex abuse of young girls. Jailing Jack Kemp for 14 years and Peter Petrauske for 18, Judge Graham Cottle told them: “The offences range from the extremely serious to the truly horrifying.”
The judge said that the scars left on the victims were so obvious “that it would seem extremely unlikely that either of them have any real prospect of recovery.” Petrauske was convicted of rape, aiding and abetting an attempted rape, and indecent assault. Kemp was convicted of 10 sexual offences.
7. On February 9, 1989, Winchester Crown Court sentenced a sixty-year-old engineer to twelve years’ imprisonment on two charges of incest with one of his five daughters. The man, who was described in court as a practising Satanist had fathered several children by his own daughter. To one of them, to whom he was both father and grandfather, he later committed acts of gross indecency and indecent assault. He made his daughter pregnant no less than five times. She had two miscarriages, a still-birth and a normal child. Another was profoundly mentally and physically handicapped. He claimed to have been “instructed by the spirits” to have sex with his daughter. When police arrested the man at his home in Fareham near Portsmouth they found a small room in the bungalow that he described as his “magic room”. There were occult symbols on the floor and on the walls, and occult and witchcraft books. They also found a black priest’s robe and an altar. On it were phials of oil used in sex rituals. He pleaded not guilty to charges of incest with his four other daughters.
8. On 25 July 1988, Hazel Paul, a 28 year old mother of three, was jailed for 5 years at the Old Bailey. Paul was convicted of falsely imprisoning a 15-year-old girl and inflicting on her grievous bodily harm during satanic rituals. She also hypnotised the girl and encouraged a male friend to sexually abuse her.
The jury heard a 15-year-old boy describe how Paul had ordered him to cut and carve the girl during rituals which also involved placing lighted candles on or around the victim’s vagina. Two other defendants were convicted with Paul of the assaults. The jury heard, and accepted by convicting, the explicit details of Paul’s satanic rituals.
9. In 1987, Andrew Newell was sentenced to seven years in prison for killing his best friend in what was regarded by the police as a Satanist ritual. Newell stabbed Philip Booth five times around the heart. A murder charge was later reduced to manslaughter. Books on the occult and occult symbols were found in his room, with the words Lucifer, Leviathan, Satan and Belial. Timothy Barnes QC, told the court that Newell’s record box had been used as a makeshift black magic altar. It was covered with bloody fingerprints and a smear of Philip Booth’s blood.
“When police opened the box they found a lot of material associated with the supernatural,” he said, “including candles that had been lit and a white-handled knife.”
10. Peter MacKenzie was sentenced at St. Albans Crown Court in August 1989 to 15 years in prison for 4 rapes and 17 other sexual assaults against 13 juvenile girls. His victims were as young as 6. An accomplice, John Baxter-Taylor, pleaded guilty to one charge of indecent assault and was sentenced to 15 months in prison. The court heard how MacKenzie told his victims he was ‘Asmodeus’, an historic satanic name principally associated with 19th century French Satanism, and made them recite prayers dedicated to him. MacKenzie had sexual intercourse with girls aged 6 and 7 by promising them magic powers. MacKenzie said they could become witches in his magic circle. He terrified his victims by warning them that unless they took part in the rituals and kept silent about the abuse they would die. All the children had to undergo counselling and psychiatric help, which was expected to last for several years.

In the case of seven individual disclosures, if Sir Edward Heath had been alive he would have been interviewed under caution in order to obtain his account in relation to the allegations made against him.
The disclosures where Heath would have been interviewed under caution to gain an account are:
1961: Heath allegedly raped and indecently assaulted an 11-year-old boy during a paid sexual encounter in a private dwelling. London.
1962: Heath in the company of an unknown male allegedly indecently assaulted a 10-year-old boy during a chance encounter in a public place. Kent.
c1964: Heath allegedly indecently assaulted a 15-year-old male during three paid sexual encounters. Sussex and London.
1967: Heath allegedly indecently assaulted a 15-year-old male not known to him in private during a chance encounter in a public building. Guernsey.
1976: Heath allegedly indecently assaulted over clothing an adult male during a chance encounter at a public event. Jersey.
c1992: Heath allegedly indecently assaulted an adult male after consent was withdrawn in what had been a paid consensual sexual encounter in a hotel. Wiltshire.
Between 1990 and 1992: Heath allegedly indecently assaulted a boy aged between 12 and 14 not known to him during a chance encounter in private gardens. Wiltshire. The report said he would have been interviewed under caution over this allegation, BUT there is undermining evidence.
In the case of 19 individual disclosures it has been concluded that there is undermining information available such that the threshold to interview under caution would not be met.
The report adds:
Where it is concluded that if he had still been alive Heath would have been interviewed under caution to gain an account, it is emphasised that his account would be as important as other evidence gathered as part of the wider investigation. Accordingly it is critical to stress that no inference of guilt should be drawn from the fact that Heath would have been interviewed under caution.
It says:
It is clearly inappropriate to speculate what Heath’s response would have been in relation to the allegations put to him under caution in an interview. His account would have informed the next stages of the investigation strategy and investigators would have looked to check and test his account against the other available evidence.
In the case of a living suspect, at the conclusion of the police investigation the senior investigating officer would consider all available evidence and make a decision as to whether submit a file to the Crown Prosecution Service. If relevant, the CPS would consider whether there was sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges.
The report also reveals that:
During Operation Conifer, three people were arrested in relation to offences concerning alleged non-recent child abuse. Two were later released without charge and the third remains under police investigation. The allegations were not directly related to Heath.
Wiltshire police have made three referrals to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). Each relates to alleged non-recent failings in the way Wiltshire police dealt with information raising potential concerns about Heath. No evidence was found to substantiate the concerns raised.
Cost:
24 people worked on Operation Conifer in total. No more than 20 worked on it at any one time. The total cost of the two-year operation is £1.4m.

1,062 officers’ reports were generated as a result of investigative activity.
284 statements were taken or reviewed.
Three people unconnected to Heath were arrested for offences related to child abuse.
As part of Operation Conifer, inquiries were made with:
Sex workers.
A survivors’ group.
The military.
Close protection police officers.
Government drivers.
Wiltshire police officers involved in security operations at Heath’s home, Arundells, in Salisbury.
WHY do notorious child sexual abuse cases from decades ago remain important?
And why should establishing the truth about them still matter?
Those questions were brought into sharp focus by Jean Rafferty’s powerful, outspoken piece in The National on the Orkney and Ayrshire sexual abuse cases, and on the censorship of open discussion about them (When evil visited Orkney, February 27).
It was published on the 25th anniversary of the day nine children, from four middle-class families, were taken into care on South Ronaldsay, Orkney, in 1991.
This happened after children from a large, disadvantaged family spoke of an organised sex abuse ring there.
Just like the eight Ayrshire children removed into care in 1990, they were returned home: in Ayrshire, after a judge reversed an earlier judge’s decision, and in Orkney by a sheriff before the evidence was even tested. It never has been tested.
In both cases, allegations included sadistic ritual and occult practices against children, allegations much-ridiculed ever since.
The cases remain important, and I believe the evidence now needs to be reassessed, for at least three reasons.
First, a stream of shocking failures to protect children from sexual abuse, in the Churches, in care homes, in private home cellars, through sexual exploitation gangs, by media celebrities and the powerful, has recently been exposed and continues to be.
This has increased Government and public concern for abused children and commitment to protect them; and has made society less inclined to dismiss forms of abuse they previously found unbelievable.
Secondly, like Rafferty I and others have over 25 years tried to publicise suggestive evidence that children were indeed in danger. Particularly over the Orkney case, we have tried to correct untruths – in print, on the BBC, in documentaries and online – and point up the flaws in the endlessly recycled and invented theories by supporters of accused adults, who allege it was just “satanic panic”.
We were repeatedly unsuccessful.
The time is surely overdue to end a silencing and misrepresentation which sees, for example, not a single neutral, factual report of either case anywhere publicly available on the internet.
By publishing Rafferty’s article, The National has stood out for its courage and independence.
Thirdly – and I believe most important – the verdicts and the myth-making after these cases have for decades negatively influenced public attitudes, professional child protection behaviour, and child protection law.
They have fuelled suspicion of social workers and paediatricians, increased stress in child protection work, ruled out investigation of possible ritual organised abuse, strengthened beliefs that children fantasise about abuse, openly tightened legislation and practice to make it harder to protect children at serious risk, and eaten into professional courage.
That encourages timidity, a professional watch-my-back mentality, and nervousness about investigating sexual abuse.
Child sexual abuse cases have increasingly disappeared off the statutory child protection radar.
Teachers, youth workers, children’s panel members and social workers still mention Orkney as a reason not to ask a child if anyone has harmed them sexually, however disturbing or suggestive signs and behaviours may be.
“The Orkney report said we mustn’t – didn’t it?” (Actually: no it did not.)
An outspoken Social Work Inspection Agency inquiry report in 2005, into the scandalous failure to act over many years in Western Isles (Eilean Saar) despite 222 expressions of concern and numerous case conferences about three abused and seriously maltreated girls, made this comment.
“New legislation (the Children (Scotland) Act 1995) was designed to protect children within the context of partnership with their parents. This, together with the aftermath of the Orkney inquiry (1992) may have contributed to the prolonged attempts to engage with the family: rather than to try to remove all three children”.
Did the authorities behave wisely in the ways they pursued their suspicions in Orkney?
On several counts, no – and today they would surely be less precipitate, collecting evidence for longer, less obtrusively and in ways less reliant on the children themselves.
Do official mistakes mean that there was no abuse?
Absolutely not: the two issues are separate, yet they are always conflated.
Was there suggestive, alarming evidence of organised sexual abuse?
Yes, in both Orkney and Ayrshire.
And if the assumed outcomes of the Orkney or Ayrshire cases are incorrect, then the future lessons drawn from them – like caution and timidity against sexual abuse, deference and apology to articulate adults – need revising too.
In this I do not think we should get tied into angry arguments of great endlessness, about whether these two cases “really” involved satanist abuse, and if satanist abuse “really” exists. (It does, but as a cult of human beings – not evil spirits flying over our homes.)
The more important, wider question is whether there were seriously abused children in these two places who were failed, who were never protected. And whether there have been many more children, ever since child protection authorities had their fingers so badly burned.
Finally, like the Cleveland Report in 1989, the Orkney Inquiry was commissioned to examine the conduct of the authorities: not to examine risks to children.
I believe that any future inquiries following high-profile cases can neither benefit nor protect children at risk, nor be truly child-centred, unless they include this question in their remit: were the actual children at the heart of this case abused or not?
How could that not be the most important question to ask?

SRY: The SRY (Sex Determining Y Region) gene determines gender. This gene will bind to other DNA in the cell, distorting it out of shape. This single gene creates the male phenotype. In a very rare genetic event, the gene sometimes gets translocated onto an X chromosome. When this happens, the child carries a genome that should be female (46, XX), but develops as a male. Adult men with a 46, XX karyotype and a translocated SRY gene are often identified due to infertility or hypogonadism (underdeveloped testes).
SHOX: The SHOX gene (Short Stature Homeobox) is located on the X and the Y chromosome. This gene is responsible for skeletal growth. While many genes are located only on the X chromosome, this gene is present in both the X and the Y chromosome, so that each gender receives two functional copies of the gene.

The main difference is the degree to which later migrations of people to the islands affected the population’s DNA. Parts of Ireland (most notably the western seaboard) have been almost untouched by outside genetic influence since hunter-gatherer times. Men there with traditional Irish surnames have the highest incidence of the Haplogroup 1 gene – over 99%.
At the same time London, for example, has been a mutli-ethnic city for hundreds of years. Furthermore, England has seen more arrivals of new people from Europe – Anglo-Saxons and Normans – than Ireland.
Therefore while the earliest English ancestors were very similar in DNA and culture to the tribes of Ireland, later arrivals to England have created more diversity between the two groups.
Irish and Scottish people share very similar DNA. The obvious similarities of culture, pale skin, tendancy to red hair have historically been prescribed to the two people’s sharing a common celtic ancestry. Actually it now seems much more likely that the similarity results from the movement of people from the north of Ireland into Scotland in the centuries 400 – 800 AD. At this time the kingdom of Dalriada, based near Ballymoney in County Antrim extended far into Scotland. The Irish invaders brought Gaelic language and culture, and they also brought their genes.
Irish Characteristics and DNA The MC1R gene has been identified by researchers as the gene responsible for red hair as well as the accompanying fair skin and tendency towards freckles. According to recent research, genes for red hair first appeared in human beings about 40,000 to 50,000 years ago.
These genes were then brought to the British Isles by the original settlers, men and women who would have been relatively tall, with little body fat, athletic, fair-skinned and who would have had red hair. So red-heads may well be descended from the earliest ancestors of the Irish and British.

Irish origin myths confirmed by modern scientific evidence One of the oldest texts composed in Ireland is theLeabhar Gabhla, the Book of Invasions. It tells a semi-mythical history of the waves of people who settled in Ireland in earliest time. But where did the early Irish come from? For a long time the myth of Irish history has been that the Irish are Celts. Many people still refer to Irish, Scottish and Welsh as Celtic culture – and the assumtion has been that they were Celts who migrated from central Europe around 500BCE. Keltoi was the name given by the Ancient Greeks to a ‘barbaric’ (in their eyes) people who lived to the north of them in central Europe. While early Irish art shows some similarities of style to central European art of the Keltoi, historians have also recognised many significant differences between the two cultures.
The latest research into Irish DNA has confirmed that the early inhabitants of Ireland were not directly descended from the Keltoi of central Europe. In fact the closest genetic relatives of the Irish in Europe are to be found in the north of Spain in the region known as the Basque Country. These same ancestors are shared to an extent with the people of Britain – especially the Scottish.
DNA testing through the male Y chromosome has shown that Irish males have the highest incidence of the haplogroup 1 gene in Europe. While other parts of Europe have integrated contiuous waves of new settlers from Asia, Ireland’s remote geographical position has meant that the Irish gene-pool has been less susceptible to change. The same genes have been passed down from parents to children for thousands of years.
This is mirrored in genetic studies which have compared DNA analysis with Irish surnames. Many surnames in Irish are Gaelic surnames, suggesting that the holder of the surname is a descendant of people who lived in Ireland long before the English conquests of the Middle Ages. Men with Gaelic surnames, showed the highest incidences of Haplogroup 1 (or Rb1) gene. This means that those Irish whose ancestors pre-date English conquest of the island are direct descendants of early stone age settlers who migrated from Spain.
Haplogroups are assigned letters of the alphabet, and refinements consist of additional number and letter combinations, for example R1b or R1b1. Y-chromosome and mitochondrial DNA haplogroups have different haplogroup designations. In essence, haplogroups give an inisight into ancestral origins dating back thousands of years.
By entering all the STR data inadvertently shown on the Discovery video, a 99.6 percent fit with the R1b haplogroup is revealed.

What I’d like to know is if they are making money, where is it going to?
