Sidney Cooke is Britain’s most notorious paedophile
Child killer Sidney Cooke faces a new police probe over the disappearance of schoolboy Martin Allen nearly 40 years ago.
Martin, 15, son of the Australian High Commissioner’s chief chauffeur in London, vanished on Bonfire Night in 1979.
Cooke, leader of a paedophile gang at the time, was involved with a hire car company that provided vehicles for top venues.
The Metropolitan Police’s murder squad have launched Operation Malswick to re-investigate Martin’s disappearance, the Sunday People reports.
Cooke, now 89, is serving two life sentences for the rape and homicide of Jason Swift, 14, and the sexual abuse of two other boys.
Martin’s brother Kevin met cops last month.
He said:
“They told me they are full on with Martin’s case and will leave no stone unturned in their quest to find out what really happened. They gave me the impression they have people in mind and confirmed they are going back over the case files of many infamous people like Sidney Cooke. The police emphasised they will look at anyone and everyone who has been a notorious child killer or paedophile, and said it’s come from the very top that they want Martin’s case cleared up.
Cooke is serving two life sentences
“Cooke has been mentioned to me before by the police but I understand he is quite ill. I told them I don’t want them to wait until he is on his last legs.”
The last apparent sighting of Martin came at Gloucester Road tube station in Kensington, west London.
Kevin said:
“The police want to go over everything from day one. I will be working with a new team of about eight officers working operating out of Barking, who are sifting through the details. I have kept a little notebook with information given to me by survivors, and from other people who have contacted me. They say I will need to take all my old cuttings and anything else I have kept as they want to catalogue everything properly.” He added: “The police also believe that I too am a secondary victim or a survivor, as I have had to deal with all this throughout.”
In a statement, The Met said:
“Detective Chief Inspector Chris Jones, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command will lead the missing person inquiry into the disappearance of Martin Allen on 5 November 1979. ”
