BONZO DANIEL: Member of infamous Glasgow gangster family shot in face while driving in city centre

The driver shot in the face on an M8 slip road early this morning has been named as Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel.

According to police, the 37-year-old is in ‘serious but stable condition’ in hospital , where he is being treated for facial injuries following the attack at Craighall Road at 12.10am.

The slip road to the motorway (J16) remained closed this morning as police combed the scene.

Daniel is the nephew of late gangland boss Jamie Daniel, reports the Daily Record , who died of cancer last year at the age of 58.

The latest shooting follows an attack on Bonzo’s cousin, convicted drug dealer Robert Daniel , in Stepps in Match this year.

The driver shot in the face while driving near the M8 has been revealed as Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel, nephew of late gangland boss Jamie Daniel.

Bonzo was fired at as he drove on Craighall Road, Glasgow, just after midnight and rushed to hospital where he is being treated for facial injuries.

Medics say the 37-year-old is in a stable condition.

The M8 sliproad remains closed while detectives comb the scene where a taxi has had its windows smashed.

The shooting comes just two months after Bonzo’s cousin Robert Daniel was gunned down in a leafy suburb in Stepps.

Convicted drug dealer Robert Daniel, 42, was blasted in a targeted attack outside his home linked to a bloody tit-for-tat feud with the rival Lyons clan.

Robert was pals with gangland enforcer Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll, who died during a shooting at an Asda car park in Robroyston in 2010.

Bonzo’s uncle, ruthless gangland boss Jamie Daniel, died of cancer at 58 last July.

In September 2015, Carroll’s pal Ross Sherlock was shot at St Helen’s Primary in Bishopbriggs.

Suspected drug dealer Euan Johnston was assassinated in Glasgow in November.

In January this year Ross Monaghan was allegedly shot in the back by a hitman disguised as a parent – with a gun hidden in a child’s buggy.

The 35-year-old was targeted as he dropped his daughter off at St George’s Primary School in Glasgow’s Penilee area.

Monaghan stood trial accused of Gerbil’s murder but walked free while his friend, Billy “Buff” Paterson was convicted and jailed for life for the crime in 2015.
