Eleven men from Southwestern Ontario are among the 80 arrested in a sweeping investigation targeting the exploitation of children online.
In total, 274 charges were laid, including sexual assault, possession of child pornography, making child pornography, distributing child pornography and accessing child pornography. Drugs and weapons-related charges were also laid, police said at a press conference laying out the investigation on Thursday.
Police say 20 victims were identified during the investigation, which involved multiple Ontario police forces, the RCMP, the Canada Border Services Agency, the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service and U.S. Homeland Security.
Investigators found nine minors who had been working in the sex industry against their will.
