Local woman Crystalla Dean has been missing since December 15 when she was last seen walking two dogs who returned home without her.
A woman’s body was discovered on a remote shore yesterday.
Police would not confirm yesterday if the body was that of a woman or a man.
But a source, who did not want to be named, said it was female.
Stewart Mackenzie, who lives near where the body was found, said: “I spoke to two men who were out for a walk and they came upon the body on the high tide mark. I saw forensic guys and the police there.”
Identification and a post-mortem have yet to take place but fears are growing that the remains are those of Oban woman Crystalla Dean, who has been missing since Dec 15th.
The 52-year-old’s daughter last saw her mother at the family home at about 8pm.
Air, land and sea searches have failed to find any trace of Crystalla, who is believed to have been out with two of her three pet dogs.
It is thought she went to a woodland area of Oban known as The Witches.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “About 12.20pm on Thursday, January 5, a body was found on the shore at Ardmucknish Bay near Benderloch. Police enquiries are at an early stage to establish the identity of the person and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
As i don’t know Oban all that well i am not sure where “The Witches” is. Why do none of the MSM reports give the real name of the woods as opposed to what the locals call it?!
