The late prime minister’s reputation was left in tatters when a senior officer announced an inquiry at his home in Salisbury and called for victims to come forward.
The investigation, which has so far cost more than £370,000, has taken almost a year amid claims it has failed to find any evidence.
Friends of Sir Edward are astonished that the inquiry, Operation Conifer, could last two more years. Police have interviewed a dozen people who sailed with the world-class sailor on racing yachts called Morning Cloud.
Former crew told officers they did not see any wrongdoing but police refused to tell them when and where crimes allegedly occurred.
One claim alleges Sir Edward took boys from a children’s home on Jersey to go sailing before abusing one and dumping his body at sea.
Anthony Churchill, 81, said: “We don’t believe a word of it. I know of eight of us who have been interviewed. We are all telling them exactly the same thing: there was nothing untoward. We are now feeling victims unless police clear this up quickly. There is a nod-nod, wink-wink for those of us who sailed with Ted.”
Mr Churchill, from the Isle of Wight, added: “Police ought to drop this whole case or at least say what the allegations are. They are besmirching his character. It’s all wrong. The police are dragging their feet and spending an awful lot of money investigating allegations that are entirely ludicrous and completely and utterly bonkers.”
Lord Hunt, a former Cabinet minister and now chairman of the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation, said: “What concerns me most is the police have no respect for a former prime minister’s reputation from the way they launched their inquiry.
“I am absolutely convinced of Ted Heath’s innocence based on the testimony of many people who worked for him. Ted was almost always in the company of police. The whole credibility of the police is now in question. The crews he sailed with are disgusted and very, very upset.”
After Wiltshire Police appealed for “anyone who believes they may have been a victim” of the former Conservative leader, 10 years after he died at 89, complaints were made but the force will not say how many and if any have been checked.
The call was prompted by an Independent Police Complaints Commission inquiry into claims that it shelved an investigation over threats to identify Sir Edward as part of a sex abuse allegation. The watchdog said this month there was no evidence.
Wiltshire Police has hired around ten former detectives to bolster Operation Conifer, which has 16 force may be fearful of not finding evidence of wrongdoing and has admitted it was wrong to launch its appeal at his ex-home.
Operation Midland, an historic VIP sex abuse inquiry by the Metropolitan Police, was ended this year.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said it has “a duty to, on behalf of people who have told us they have been abused, proactively investigate. We seek to be proportionate, impartial and fair, in order to provide the public with confidence in the police response. We cannot discuss the details of the on-going police investigation as it would not be fair to any party … before the investigation is complete.” source

Tony Blair as ‘Miranda ‘ HE WHO PAYS THE PIPER by T. Stokes How Britain came to be in the EU under such disastrous terms was because Edward Heath was allegedly a coprophiliac, he would regularly take boys from certain care homes away on his boat for weekends. His sheets had to be perfectly white, clean ironed and perfumed, Heaths obsession with this made the boats name ‘morning cloud’ the subject of many in house jokes, nevertheless he was seriously warned 4 times by the police for hanging around public toilets, special branch had to appoint a man especially to protect him, it was Liberal party Leader Jeremy Thorpes threat to bring down Edward Heath and a big bunch of other politicians, which got him off the Norman Scott attempted murder court case. The name ‘Mr. Eddy’ was well known on Hampstead Heath and the boys home nearby in the seventies. SOURCE
