A teacher from East Kilbride is to stand trial charged with child rape and sexual abuse.
Ronald Burton (60) appeared at the High Court in Glasgow last Wednesday charged with sexually abusing two pupils at schools in South Lanarkshire.
Mr Burton pleaded not guilty to seven charges including raping a schoolboy under the age of 13 on two occasions at his home in East Kilbride.
He allegedly committed one of the offences while the child was unconscious or asleep after ‘hypnotising’ or ‘attempting to hypnotise him’.
It is claimed he also sexually assaulted the boy on various occasions at a high school in South Lanarkshire, his East Kilbride home and elsewhere in Scotland, and in a car on a back road between East Kilbride and Strathaven.
Mr Burton is alleged to have bought the child alcohol and gifts including a gym membership, supplied him with cannabis and caused him to look at sexual images.
The alleged offences happened between August 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.
He is further charged with lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards a schoolboy, then aged between 11 and 13 years, in the 1990s.
The historic sexual offences are claimed to have taken place at a second South Lanarkshire high school, his home in East Kilbride, a road
near Langlands Golf Course and elsewhere in Scotland on various occasions between August 1, 1994 and November 19, 1996.
He allegedly bought the boy gifts and alcohol, a gym membership and induced him to view sexual images.
