Child killer Robert Black, who murdered four children across the UK in the 1980s, has died in prison.

Grangemouth-born Black was serving multiple life sentences for the brutal abductions and murders of four girls in the early 1980s.

Black died of natural causes in Maghaberry prison, it was confirmed today.

In a statement, the Northern Ireland Prison Service confirmed that a 68-year-old prisoner had died at the high-security jail.

“While this is not being treated as suspicious, the Prison Service has informed the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Coroner, and Prisoner Ombudsman,” the statement added. “It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

Black was found guilty in 1994 of three child murders in the 80s – those of;

Susan Maxwell, 11, Scottish Borders.

Caroline Hogg, 5, Edinburgh.

Sarah Harper, 10, Morley, near Leeds.

The paedophile was serving a total of 12 life sentences for murder and kidnap.

Evil child murderer Robert Black has died in prison.

The killer was responsible for the deaths of four children in the 1980s and had been sentenced to multiple life sentences for the brutal abductions and murders of four girls in the early 1980s.

Black was working as a delivery driver and travelled widely across the UK . The same year Jennifer Cardy, nine, is abducted as she cycled to a friend’s house and her body found near her family home in Ballinderry, Country Antrim

Susan Maxwell, 11, from Cornhill-On-Tweed near the Scottish border in England is abducted and murdered by Black. Two weeks later, her body was found 264 miles away lying a ditch at a roadside lay-by just outside Uttoxeter in the Midlands

Five-year-old Caroline Hogg from Portobello, near Edinburgh disappears from outside her home. Her body is found in a ditch in Leicestershire

1986

Ten year old Sarah Harper

Sarah Harper, 10, is abducted as she walks near her home in Morley, Leeds. Her body was later found in the River Trent in Nottingham

1988
